Bad Piggies 2

At Rovio, I work as a game designer whose main focus has been to create and refine the core gameplay of 'Bad Piggies 2', a new physics-based mobile game, and sequel to the fan favourite 'Bad Piggies'.

Project Responsibilities:

  • Helped define the core gameplay loop, level structure, and core design philosophy. Played a key role in creating the core game experience to provide a vision for the development team.

  • Oversee the various core gameplay systems and how they interact with one another while defining new development 'tracks'. These include:

    • Levels & rooms

    • Level mechanics

    • Building limitations

    • New parts

    • New level objectives

    • In-level boosters

  • Led the design of core game features, creating and refining design specs with priority, and overseeing cross-craft development with art, tech, QA, and production.

  • Create and maintain a content pipeline for levels and saga content, ensuring the workflow can be scalable and consistent, and prepare for a live game content cadence while in production.

  • Build the first levels for the game while exploring what works, what doesn't, and why - to provide the basis for level creation and initial guidelines.​

Additional responsibilities:

  • Provide mentoring to junior designers both on and off the project to help with their current work and aid in their development.

  • Establishing a level design craft within the Stockholm studio which provides a space to advocate for the value of investing in levels, and the needs of level design.
